Elefin Farm & Cafe in Chiang Mai: Magical Morning with Elephants!

The most accessible place in Chiang Mai to make friends with elephants is Elefin Farm & Cafe. Just a half-hour bike ride from Chiang Mai along a picturesque mountain road, and the incredible elephants that used to exist only in books and children’s tales magically become within arm’s reach. It’s such an exhilarating feeling to meet these wonderful animals up close!

Here, there is a whole family of elephants, including a very cute baby elephant. Elephants are very sociable, you can touch and feed them, and they don’t mind at all. As soon as these lovely creatures sensed that we had something tasty for them, they immediately came running to enjoy the treats and skillfully used their trunks to grab all the bananas from the basket!

Feeding Elephants in Chiang Mai

It’s very simple here: you buy a basket of bananas and sugar cane for 100 baht, and these wonderful animals immediately pay attention to you. They are used to being fed, and gladly extend their trunks to get the desired treat as quickly as possible. You can feed them from the ground or step onto a special platform.

Photo Session with Elephants

Of course, you can take photos with the elephants. But be careful when you get close to them, as they are still large animals and can accidentally bump into you when they move around. You can ask the farm’s staff for help; they know the elephants and can call them over for you to take a picture.

How to Get to Elefin Cafe?

To get here, it will take about 45 minutes to an hour from the city center. I recommend renting a bike and riding here. The road is a wonderful mountain serpentine amidst lush greenery. Just build the route in Google Maps and trust it. There will be a fairly steep climb approaching the cafe, so be careful when riding your bike there.
